At Duffey Southeast, we believe the future of our industry depends on the next generation of skilled trade professionals. That’s why we actively invest in opportunities that introduce students to meaningful careers in construction, including events like the Northwest Georgia Skills Challenge. We partnered with AGC Georgia and RaLin Construction to bring together trade professionals to encourage and educate students on the future they can create for themselves in the trades.

Duffey Southeast Construction recently partnered with SkillsUSA, AGC Georgia, and RaLin Construction to host the Northwest Georgia Skills Challenge for high school students. While the event showcased impressive craftsmanship and friendly competition, its purpose reached far beyond the competition day. This event was about creating awareness, expanding opportunity, and helping young people see themselves in a thriving and impactful industry.

That's why we are proud to host the AGC Northwest Georgia Skills Challenge, an event that introduces middle and high school students to the diverse and rewarding careers within the construction industry.

At Duffey Southeast, we're dedicated to building a brighter future by investing in the next generation of construction professionals. Our commitment was on full display at the 2023 Northwest Georgia Skills Competition held in Rome, Georgia. This event provided a platform for high school students to showcase and enhance their skills in various trades, offering them a pathway to success right out of school.

In the Electrical challenge of the AGC Skills Challenge, students were given blueprints of electrical wiring and how to install boxes and locate wires. They started at the panel and wired to switches, GFI’s and light fixtures. They were watched by judges the entire time while also receiving tips and tricks from them. The students were judged on use of tools, safety, assembly according to plans, national electrical code, locations of items, functional test, and percent complete.

Partnering together, Duffey Southeast and The Associated General Contractors of Georgia hosted construction students from 14-area high schools for the Northwest Georgia Workforce Development Alliance Skills Challenge. The event competitions were held Nov. 1, at the Polk County College and Career Academy, in our hometown of Cedartown, Georgia. The event was one of seven regional event competitions held throughout the state.
