Building Tomorrow: Our Commitment to Shaping the Future Workforce
At Duffey Southeast, we recognize that the strength of our industry lies in the hands of the next generation. That's why we are proud to host the AGC Northwest Georgia Skills Challenge, an event that introduces middle and high school students to the diverse and rewarding careers within the construction industry.
Hands-On Construction Experience
The Skills Challenge offers students the opportunity to engage in practical, real-world scenarios across various trades, including carpentry, electrical, plumbing, and welding. By participating, students not only develop technical skills but also gain confidence in their abilities, preparing them for successful careers in construction.
As emphasized by Ashley, Executive Director of SkillsUSA, “These are people that want to hire our students, and our students are capable of entering careers right after high school.”
Addressing the Skilled Labor Gap
With the construction industry facing a growing skilled labor gap, investing in young people is more important than ever. Programs like the AGC Skills Challenge not only give students a head start by introducing them to construction careers early, but they also help the industry by preparing a pipeline of skilled, motivated workers for the future.
Looking Ahead
As we reflect on the success of the AGC Georgia Skills Challenge, Duffey Southeast remains committed to investing in the future of the construction industry. We’re especially excited for the next Skills Challenge on November 4th and look forward to continuing our support for initiatives that inspire and prepare the next generation of skilled professionals.
